Year 7 pupils learn valuable life saving skills
14 November 2018
During November as part of the Bikeability programme and our Science teaching through the lens project all of our Year 7 pupils took part in a two hour First Aid Course. At Norham we fully understand the importance of this valuable life skill and year on year we enlist the help of St John Ambulance to deliver a first aid session.
Pupils were trained in what to do in an emergency situation and how to handle a casualty whether conscious or unconscious. This involved putting someone into the recovery position or delivering CPR. Pupils trained to deliver CPR using the Little Anne dummy which allowed them to try out chest compressions as well life saving breaths. To end the session pupils then learned how to bandage an injury to the arm and the head.
